Recreational activities in Kaavi include community college classes organized by Kuopio Community College, the Kaavi branch library, and several indoor and outdoor sport facilities.

Sport facilities

Kaavi provides many opportunities for sport, both indoors and outdoors. The town has two sports halls, one located in the Kaavi school (Kaavintie 24 A) and the other in Iloharju (Kisatie 2). There are several beaches for swimming in the summertime, including one in the town centre (Kuikkatie 7), which has a play area for kids, outdoor exercise machines, and a beach volley pitch, as well as changing rooms and toilets. The outdoor sport facilities in or near the Kaavi town centre include a disc golf course (starting point at Kisatie 2), a sports field (Karpinlammintie 2 A), an outdoor exercice spot (Kirkkorannantie 2), and a tennis court and a skating rink (Kaavintie 24 D).
